Background

1978 Gained PPL. Graduated
1980 Graduated from Queen’s University. Belfast with BSc(Aero).1st Class Honours.
1980 – 1987 Singer Link Miles initially as a simulator test engineer. Reached position of Senior Systems Analyst (Flight Systems). having been involved in 10 different simulator acceptances (civil & military).
1983 – 1988 PPL flying instructor I Ground examiner I Chief Flying Instructor.
1987 Joined British Island Airways as first Officer MD-83.
1988 – present. Formed BradAir Aviation Consultancy as an independent consultancy to the airline industry.
1990. Joined British Midland (BM) as First Officer B737 -300-400-500.
1992. Promoted to Captain B737 based at London Heathrow.
1993 -1997. Operations Project Manager at BM’s Operations Departments R&D Section. Headed BM’s upgrade of its HQ Emergency Response Procedures. Continued part time flying duties on B737
1998. Elected Fellow of the RAES
1999 Formed BradAir Aviation Consultancy into a Limited Company.
1998 – 2002 Fokker 70/100 Captain based at East Midlands airport (UK).
2002 – 2012 Transferred internally to BM’s sister airline bmibaby as B737 Training Captain (Line Training, TRI(A) , TRE, CRMI) based at East Midland with independent consultancy role outside flying duties.
2006 Produced and conducted specialised training course for pre- command training including Failure Management Training and conducting simulator Command Assessments.
2006 Qualified JAA & CAA Simulator Evaluator
2006 – present. Provide CommandPrep training courses to Co-pilots preparing for command upgrades.
2012 – present. Full-time independent advanced Airline Pilot Training Consultant.
2013 – present. Consultant instructor at several ATOs including L3Harris, IAGO, JetMasterClass, CAE and Aircrew Direct providing training / checking and examiner duties on B737 type rating courses.
2016 Elected Upper Freeman of The Honourable Company of Air Pilots.
2017 – present UK CAA / EASA Senior Examiner
